Welcome to The Ashton Store. Located in Ashton, Ontario, Canada, the store is one of the oldest village general stores around, dating back to 1851. The picture at the top of the page shows the store as it was in 1909. Today, the store still operates from the same stone building, though the roof and porches have changed over the years.

The store has supported the local community for generations. The needs have changed with the times and so has the store. Today, those passing through Ashton often stop at the store for a coffee and paper or visit with friends before the workday starts. The store also offers sandwiches, baked goods, snacks, drinks and ice cream cones.

The Ashton Store has become a destination for other items such as postal services, interesting giftware, dry cleaning and more recently, natural fiber knitting yarns and supplies. Monday afternoon's see local knitters gather in the warm atmosphere of the old village store for Sit'n Knit, a chance to visit and share knitting projects etc.
